Santenay Clos Rousseau 1er Cru

Devastating frost in April resulted in limited production for many, challenges combating mildew for some, but a warm dry summer helped to achieve good ripeness overall. Fruit from 1.5ha parcel within Clos Rousseau with mixed soils (5 different). Vines average 50 years. A top 1er cru of Santenay that borders Maranges. Whole clusters used and will vary depending on the vintage, 15-18 months in oak, 25% new.

Tasting Note: Aromas of strawberry, blackberry, and red currants with hints of dried flowers and earth. Supple with a ripe fruit core, fine tannins, fresh acidity, chalky mineral notes on the finish. Refined and elegant.
