Saó Del Coster

Gratallops, Priorat

A project was started in 2004 by a group of friends passionate about the Priorat and its wines. Joel Chevallaz and Michel Grupper manage the winery and its operations supported by the team of Xavier, Michelle, Ángel, and biodynamic specialist Frédéric Duseigneur. Vineyards span 11ha (estate and rented) with all the farming done by the team with organic and biodynamic principles applied. Top sites include Planassos and La Pujada both located in Gratallops. Vines are up to 60 years of age grown on the famous llicorella soils (black slate & quartz-based). Native yeasts are preferred for fermentations with the use of whole clusters depending on the wine. In 2010, the team created another project, adding white wine to their lineup with the Albariño grape grown in the Rias Baixas DO.
