Les Beguines

Mostly Pinot Meunier (94%) from original massal selection rootstock planted in 1964, along with small percentages of pinot gris and chardonnay planted in 2000. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 120m sitting on a north-south axis, with limestone sands originating in the Thanetian epoch of the Paleocene. Hand-harvested, fermentation in a mix of barrels for 10 months on gross lees. No machines or electricity is used; all bottles are filled by gravity. Dosage is always 2.5g/L. LC = vintage. 20% of reserve wine is used.

96 Points Wine Advocate.

Tasting Note: “Denser and more compact than its 2019 counterpart, the NV Extra Brut Les Béguines LC 20 reveals inviting aromas of pear, confit citrus, mirabelle plum and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated palate that's vinous and sapid, built around chalky structure and concluding with a penetrating finish. While it can be approached now, a few years' patience will pay dividends.” - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
