Echezeaux Grand Cru

Pinot Noir fruit from 70+-year-old vines in the upper part of Les Treaux lieux-dit of Echezeaux Grand Cru. Grapes are farmed biodynamically and grow on a 0.6ha parcel of clay/limestone soils. Hand harvested, fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in 14-18 months in oak barrels (with up to 30% new, but vintage dependant). Very limited production with only 1 barrel (or sometimes even less) made

Tasting Note: “The 2021 Echezeaux Grand Cru has quite a backward nose at first, unfolding with a mixture of red and black fruit, forest floor, black truffle and stony scents. The palate is medium-bodied, with slightly rigid tannins on the entry, though they will soften with time. A sturdy Echezeaux this, perhaps just missing a bit of grace on the finish.
