Bourgogne Aligoté

comte-armand-bourgogne-aligoté-R.jpg

2017 - Warm spring with frost mostly avoided. Hot/warm weather for spring and summer leading to an early harvest. Picking dates are essential due to the risk of rain. A plentiful harvest. Aligoté from purchased and estate vines from Meursault. Aged on lees in a mix of large (600L) barrels and steel tanks.

Mostly the Aligoté Doré clone is from 2 sources, one is from estate vines planted in 2005 in Volnay & Pommard, the other is purchased from very old vines planted in 1932 in Meursault. Indigenous ferment and 12 months on fine lees in older 500L oak barrels. Very small production.

Tasting Note: 2017 - Aromas of Asian pear, nectarine, pineapple with honeysuckle, citrus peel. Round on the palate with fresh acidity, juicy yellow fruit, slightly oily texture on the finish.

2018 - Aromas of tangerine, pear, lemon & zest with hints of honeysuckle, white flower, green herb, stone, on the nose. Good complexity and freshness on the palate, juicy citrus fruit core, vibrant acidity, creamy texture, medium body, a stony mineral note on the finish.
