Saumur Blanc Clos Des Carmes

Chenin Blanc from a monopole considered to be a grand cru of the Loire. Located on the Brézé hill, the site was purchased by Romain’s grandfather in 1955. The parcel is south facing with clay and silt soils. Only the best bunches with go into this cuvée. Whole cluster pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation, aged in oak on fine lees with a mix of new, 1st & 2nd year barrels.

Tasting Note: Aromas of lemon peel, green apple, mango with hints of popcorn, butterscotch, flint, hazelnut, wet stone on the nose. Rich and powerful on the palate, great concentration of orchard fruit layered with spice and mineral notes, very complex, fresh acidity, silky texture, a long mineral finish. Will continue to beautifully evolve with age.
