Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve Des Célestins
The most famous (and expensive) cuvée of the Domaine. A selection of the best barrels and made only in the top vintages. Usually, 90% Grenache with Mourvedre and may have small amounts of Syrah, Counoise, Vaccarese, between 3-5 ageing (and even longer) in old oak barrel and foudres. Every vintage is different & unique.
Tasting Note: 2008 - Deep aromas of sweet cherry, fig with lavender, mineral, and sandalwood on the nose. Full and with great richness, concentration on the palate, ripe fruit with spice & mineral, fresh acidity, elegant and silky tannins, finesse on the long finish.
2014 - Aromas of cherry, plum with spice, black pepper, and sandalwood on the nose. Beautifully finessed with great complexity & depth on the palate, ripe red fruits with spice and minerals, medium-full bodied, fresh acidity, fine tannins, seamless and with a lengthy finish.
2015 - Aromas of cassis, black cherry, plum with hints of black pepper, cured meat, garrigue, and spice on the nose. Great depth and complexity on the palate with red & black fruit, good acidity, structured, firm and youthful tannin, and a long spicy finish. Exceptional and will have a long life ahead.
