Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier
Named after Henri’s aunt, generally with more elegance. Fruit from clay, limestone, and sandy soils. Usually 90% Grenache with Mourvedre and may have small amounts of Syrah, Counoise, Vaccarese, between 3-5 ageing (and even longer) in old oak barrel and foudres. Every vintage is different & unique.
Tasting Note: 2011 - Aromas of cherry, raspberry, kirsch with garrigue, black pepper, meat on the nose. Great concentration with a mid-full bodied structure, cherry & rhubarb on the palate, firm tannin, fresh acidity, great length on the finish with notes of herb & potpourri.
2013 - Aromas of raspberry, pomegranate with flowers, earthy herbs, spice on the nose. Elegant with a silky texture on the palate, fresh red fruit & black pepper notes, round tannins, gentle spice on the long finish.
2014 - Aromas of red cherry, raspberry with lots of spice on the nose. Burgundian in texture, medium-bodied weight, good acidity, fine tannins, long gentle finish with delicate spice and floral notes.
