Volnay Saint Jean

A cool, wet winter and spring, hail in late July reduced yields. Sunny and warm in August through till Sept which was definitely beneficial for ripening. A 1er cru blend with grapes from Robardelle, Mitans, and Pitures vineyards and may have some Taillepieds, Santenots or Brouillards in years Pascal doesn’t bottle them. Some whole clusters use (from Pitures) and matured in oak for 24 months, with 10-20% new.

Tasting Note: Fresh aromas of raspberry, plum with hints of forest floor, red flowers. Lush and round on the palate with ripe red fruit on the mid-palate, fresh acidity, firm tannin, a fine long finish with spice notes.
