Champagne Marie Demets

Growing grapes since the 1950s in the Côte des Bar with a goal to bottle their own wines, Champagne house Marie Demets’ first release was in 1987. Pierre Demets now runs the operations consisting of 10ha of vineyards made up of 14 plots of diverse soils and exposures. Vines are tended to with an agro-ecological approach: grass between rows, stop chemical weeding, reduce chemical input, preserve old vines. Now equipped with a new winery, Pierre has much-needed space for single-plot vinifications and thermo-regulated vats to work with native yeasts. Very passionate, he believes that “the better the vine will grow, the more we will be rewarded”
