Barbaresco Martinenga Camp Gros Riserva

Nebbiolo from the 2.6ha Camp Gros parcel, a southwest-facing subsection on the eastern portion within the Martinenga vineyard, a top cru of Barbaresco. Its location just under the Rabaja cru.  Vines range from 35-40 years, growing on soils of blue marl and limestone. Aged in French barrique for 12 months, then followed by 16 months in Slavonian oak barrels, with further bottle aging before release. Considered to be the classic and firm of the Barbaresco’s produced. Only produced in favourable vintages. 2010 is the introduction of the very first “riserva” for the estate.

Tasting Note: Aromas of black cherry, plum, orange, and rhubarb with hints of licorice, violets, sage, and mocha on the nose. Great intensity and power on the palate, a fresh red/black fruit core, very layered and complex, good acidity, fine dry tannin, and a long finish with dried berry fruit and spice.
