Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese

Riesling form the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyard which borders the north of Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Similar in steepness and exposition but the topsoil is not as deep so roots hit the firm slate bedrock and are quickly under stress to find water, resulting in lower yields. The vines for JJ Prum’s parcel averages 60 years and are around the sundial, that was built by an ancestor of the Prum family in 1842. Wines tend to deliver more complexity and show dense minerality, a bit more ‘wild’ than its neighbours and can deliver great pleasure.

Tasting Note: Aromas of ripe peach, candied lemon, apricot, nectarine with flint, tea, honeysuckle, marzipan on the nose. Balanced and weightless on the palate with great fruit concentration, vibrant acidity, subtle yet complex, silky texture and a beautiful long, lingering finish. Medium-dry/medium-sweet.
