Domaine Des Malandes
Chablis
Originally starting with 7ha of vines passed down from her family, Lyne Marchive has accomplished a lot from starting a new winery, growing vineyard holdings to 29ha, and even lobbying for 9 months to be one of the first in France to test netting in the vineyards to protect vines from hail, as it was illegal at the time. Her children Richard & Amandine with the help of enologist Guénolé Breteaudeau now manage the estate. In the vineyards, ensuring soils are alive and vines healthy are of upmost importance. Farming is done with the upmost care with the use of organic fertilizers, employing a horse to plough some plots, eliminating chemical weed-killers, experimenting with new techniques to extend the age of older vines. In the cellar, the use of stainless tank or barrels are decided depending on each specific terroir, with 1er & grand crus seeing a bit more oak influence for roundness and texture in the wines. To quote Allen Meadows, he states the team at Domaine des Malandes “continue to drive the quality of the wines to new heights”. We would agree! The Domaine is fully certified organic as of the 2022 vintage.
