Domaine Roulot
Meursault
History runs deep for the Roulot family with roots from 1798, but it was Guy Roulot and wife Geveviève’s vision that became the start to Domaine Roulot, earning the reputation as one of the finest domaines in the Côte d’Or. Jean-Marc Roulot currently runs this top estate, having taken over from his father’s sudden passing in 1989. Now totalling 15ha and farmed organically since the 1990s, the Domaine holdings are mostly within the village with a great selection of older vines on quality lieux-dits. In the cellar, wines are on lees in barrel for 12 months with new oak use ranging from 5-30%. Lees stirring is kept at a minimum. While somehow still finding time to also work as an actor, Jean-Marc is the Master of Meursault and a lieux-dit specialist, constantly bottling silky, deep wines that have great freshness and precision, providing a striking illustration of the concept of terroir.
