Domaine L’Agramante

Sabran

An up-and-coming newcomer realizing his dream is Carlo la Rocca and Domaine de L’Agramante. Originally from Sicily and studying industrial engineering, Carlo had worked in the chemical industry for 15 years, moved to France. It wasn’t until an off-chance visit to a winery in Sancerre, where Carlo was inspired by the connection between nature and the range of competencies of a vintner; he was hooked! Leaving his busy life behind, he went to study in Beaune for 2 years. 2018 was the first vintage for Carlo with only one wine produced from 2 parcels, totalling 2ha in Sabran. Now at 4.3ha on generally sandy soil terroir, vineyards are farmed organically and are awaiting certification. 2020 will see the harvest in his own cellar next to the vineyards but for 2018 and 2019, facilities (and expertise) were offered by bio estate Mas de Libian. Carlo wishes to one day cultivate some indigenous Italian grape varieties. Who knows, his journey has only just begun.
