Bourgogne Roncevie

Fruit from a 4.8ha parcel within Roncevie that was purchased by the Arlaud family in 1964. The entire vineyard was originally village level Gevrey-Chambertin but part of their holdings were declassified to Bourgogne for political reasons. Vines average 60+ year growing on limestone clay soils with some loam. Grapes are de-stemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast, aged in oak barrel for 16 months (5% new). A village Gevrey in disguise.

Tasting Note: Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, cassis with hints of violet, earth, fresh herb, spice on the nose. Ripe and juicy on the palate with bright berry fruit and earth, fresh acidity, ripe tannin, good intensity, a good fruity finish.
