Morey-St-Denis Aux Cheseaux 1er Cru

2017 - Warm spring with frost mostly avoided. Hot/warm weather for spring and summer leading to an early harvest. Picking dates are essential due to the risk of rain. A plentiful harvest.

2018 - An extremely wet winter/spring. Two hailstorms in July damaged certain areas, otherwise, it was a hot, dry summer. Picking dates were crucial to preserve acidity. A good harvest in general.

From 0.7ha of vines within the cooler vineyard of Aux Cheseaux 1er cru, adjacent to Mazoyères-Chambertin. Average vine age of 40 yrs. 15% whole cluster fruit, 14-18 months in oak (20% new).

Tasting Note: 2017 - Aromas of raspberry, black plum, cherry with stone mineral, violets on the nose. Medium-bodied, dense with generous fruit & stone mineral on the mid-palate, youthful tannins, and liquorice & sweet spice noted on the lengthy finish.

2018 - Aromas of blackberry, and black cherry, with violet and stone mineral on the nose. Medium-bodied and with juicy red/blackberry fruit, firm tannin, good structure, fresh acidity, and sweet spice and mineral on the long finish.
