Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos Des Corvées Pagets 1er Cru
2013 - A cool, wet winter and spring, hail in late July reduced yields. Sunny and warm in August through till Sept which was definitely beneficial for ripening. Fruit from a 0.55ha holding with vines averaging 70 years from a subsection of Aux Corvées in Premeaux. Vinified with 50% whole cluster and aged in oak with 50% new.
2014 - Excellent spring, but a hailstorm in late June reduced yields for some. Tricky summer with hot days and chilly/wet days, conditions improved to be warm and dry in August. Fruit from a 0.55ha holding with vines averaging 70 years from a subsection of Aux Corvées in Premeaux. Vinified with 60% whole cluster and aged in oak with 40% new.
Tasting Note: 2013 - Pretty red fruit aromas of raspberry, cherry, plum with underlining earth and peppery herbs. Very good richness and weight with firm tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing with a few mineral notes.
2014 - Deep aromas of black plums, black cherries with liquorice and leather spice. Excellent intensity and concentration of dark red fruits, impeccable balance finishing with hints of smoke and dark chocolate.
