Puligny Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru

2018 - An extremely wet winter/spring. Two hailstorms in July damaged certain areas, otherwise a hot, dry summer. Picking dates were crucial to preserving acidity. A good harvest in general.

Fruit from a 1.1ha parcel within Champ Canet 1er Cru with red clay soils around 40cm in depth over limestone. Vines average 40+ years with some planted in 1938. Aging in oak for 10-12 months on lees with 30% new oak.

Tasting Note: Aromas of lemon, white peach, pear with white flower, crème fraîche, butter on the nose. Lovely richness, satiny, and textural on the palate, ripe citrus & butter orchard fruit, vibrant acidity, great sense of energy, crushed stone on the long finish.
