Puligny Montrachet Les Garennes 1er Cru

Fruit from a single plot within La Garenne 1er Cru, at the top of the slope next to Hameau de Blagny. A vineyard not owned by the domaine but is fully managed by the team at Sauzet. Soils are brown limestone with shallow rocky topsoil. Vines range from 23-74 years of age. Aging in oak for 10-12 months on lees with 20-25% new oak.

An extremely wet winter/spring. Two hailstorms in July damaged certain areas, otherwise a hot, dry summer. Picking dates were crucial to preserving acidity. A good harvest in general.

Tasting Note: Notes of pear, green apple, lemon with hazelnut, white flower, stone mineral on the nose. Refined with great depth and precision on the palate, great orchard & lemon fruit core, lively acidity, great balance, a long mineral finish.
