Puligny Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru

An extremely wet winter/spring. Two hailstorms in July damaged certain areas, otherwise a hot, dry summer. Picking dates were crucial to preserving acidity. A good harvest in general. Fruit from 2 parcels totalling 0.7ha within Les Referts 1er Cru, which have deep soils with relatively more clay and gravel. Vines average 35+ years. Aging in oak for 10-12 months on lees with 33% new oak.

Tasting Note: Aromas of peach, lemon, quince with white flower, a hint of smoke and spices on the nose. Medium-weight and satiny on the palate, fleshy citrus fruit, vibrant acidity, balanced, a long finish with chalk mineral and spice.
