Saumur Rouge Les Chapaudaises

Cabernet Franc from 3 parcels near the village a Bizay, which is half a kilometre away from the hill of Brézé. Vines were planted in 1948 on soils of silt and sand over soft limestone bedrock. Destemmed fruit, indigenous yeast fermentation in concrete tanks, then aged for 12 months in wooden conical vats, and a further 6-month maturation in steel tank before bottling.

Tasting Note: Aromas of cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant with a hint of smoke, dry green herb, and spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with a juicy red fruit core, fresh acidity, fine-grained tannin, still very youthful, long finish with notes of spices.
