Volnay Brouillards 1er Cru

Domaine-Roblet-Monnet-Volnay-Brouillards-Premier-Cru-no-vintage-R.jpg

2011 - Charming wines but complicated year - “summer in spring, spring in summer”, very hot again later in summer with a few days of rain at harvest. Smaller yields in general. Fruit from a 0.36 parcel within Les Brouillards which is mostly of limestone soils. Matured in oak for 24 months with 10-20% new.

2017 - Warm spring with frost mostly avoided. Hot/warm weather for spring and summer leading to an early harvest. Picking dates essential due to the risk of rain. A plentiful harvest. Fruit from a 0.36 parcel within Les Brouillards which is mostly of limestone soils. Vinified with de-stemmed fruit and matured in oak for 24 months with 10-20% new.

Tasting Note: 2011 - Aromas of blackberry, raspberry with forest floor, red flower on the nose. Ripe and round with juicy red fruit on the mid-palate, fine tannin, fresh acidity, a lengthy finish with a hint of a mineral note.

2017 - Aromas of plum, cherry, raspberry with stony mineral, earth. A fleshy and round texture on the palate, a juicy red fruit core, fresh acidity, chalky tannins due to youth, and a hint of mineral on the long finish.

2018 - Coming soon.

2019 - Aromas of raspberry, cherry, and blackcurrants with hints of dark chocolate, flowers, and earth/soil on the nose. Rich, layered and deep on the palate, with good fruit concentration, fresh acidity, velvety tannins, and mineral on the long finish.
