Volnay Pitures 1er Cru

Charming wines but complicated year - “summer in spring, spring in summer”, very hot again later in summer with a few days of rain at harvest. Smaller yields in general. Fruit from a smallholding in Pitures 1er Cru, which is next to Clos de Ducs. Soils are of brown topsoil with lots of stones on hard limestone bedrock. One of the few plots where stems are included depending on the year and matured in oak for 24 months with 10-20% new.

Tasting Note: Aromas of blackberry, plum with hints of iron mineral, meat, earth on the nose. Rich and dense on the palate with great concentration of red & black fruit, fine tannin, fresh acidity, a long finish very mineral.
