Riesling Ried Steinbühel

Single vineyard Riesling from Reid Steinbühl, a classified 1ötw Erste Lage in Palt. Silty soils that are very stony with a lot of limestone and younger gravel on the south of the Danube River. Vines average 30 years. Spontaneous ferment with natural yeast in stainless tanks then 6-8 months in large old oak for maturation on fine lees before bottling. The name derives from the stony soils (stein=stone, bühel=hill).

Tasting Note: Aromas of lemon curd, grapefruit, and white peach with hints of pastry, hazelnut, flint, and white flower on the nose. Medium-bodied with good richness on the palate, a core of taut citrus fruit, vibrant acidity, rounded texture, and good length with some citrus zest on the finish.
