Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese

Riesling from a 5ha parcel within the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard. Soils are deep, stony with weathered grey slate on a slope very steep (up to 70% gradient). The vineyard faces an optimal south/southwest exposure. The famous sundial (sonnenuhr = sundial) was built in this vineyard by an ancestor of the Prum family in 1842. Wines generally have good structure with ripe stone fruit notes, fine mineral, great depth, and length.

Tasting Note: 2018 - Aromas of ripe pear, melon, passion fruit, white peach with hints of blossom, jasmine, honey, wet stone on the nose. Fresh and pure on the palate, great concentration of ripe fruit, balanced sweetness with vibrant acidity, and long-layered finish of fruit and mineral. Off-dry/medium dry.
