Domaine Richard Rottiers

Romanèche-Torins

From a family history of wine growing, Richard Rottiers, with experience throughout France and the world, settled down in Moulin à Vent to establish Domaine Richard Rottiers in 2007. He was quick to realize the potential in the terroir with its granite soil that contains manganese, which is said to contribute to the wines being the most Burgundy-like of all the Beaujolais crus. Taking over 3ha from a retiring vigneron, Richard now manages 7ha of established & young vines, the vineyards certified organic since 2012 and biodynamic in 2014. Each parcel vinified separately with a traditional semi-carbonic fermentation preferred, using a mix of foudre, barrique, and concrete vats for aging. Eager to further showcase Beaujolais Village terroir, he has been successful in his crowd (wine) funding project in 2019 to help finance the planting of a new parcel of Moulin Méziat. With wines already showing purity and a refection of terroir, a bright future and more great wines to come.
