Domaine Comte Armand

Pommard

Clos des Epeneaux, a magnificent parcel of 5ha in Pommard, has been the heritage of the family of Count Armand since 1828 and remains so. Today, Domaine Comte Armand is led by winemaker Paul Zinetti. Top winemakers in the past have led the way and Paul is committed more than ever to produce wines that are true expressions of terroir. Now with vineyard holdings of 9ha in Pommard, Volnay, and Auxey-Duresses, all are farmed biodynamically. Parcels are further divided according to soil types, with horse ploughing in some parts. In the winery, usually, less than 10% of the whole cluster is used, a max of 30% new oak (only for the top cuvée), and aging in oak generally 18-24 months. Paul states that he and his team’s attention and care in the vineyards is to ensure, “I am making my wines according to the terroir, I don’t want to cheat.”
