Established in 1858, 6th generation Charles Lachaux joined the family Domaine in 2011. Now in charge of operations, he brings his own methodology to the craft, much different than previous. Vines cover 14.5ha over 15 appellations, all of which with organic & biodynamic processes. Under the wing of Lalou Bize Leroy, Charles’ approach is empirical and quick to adapt. A lot of work in the vineyard is done to grow the most beautiful grapes with the help of horses, work by hand, and shoots are left to grow longer in tune with their natural vigour. In the winery, there is less wine “making” with noticeably less use of new oak and much more whole cluster use. An immensely promising Domaine with definitely a bright future ahead.
