Weingut Eva Fricke
Eltville
Founded in 2006 with her first vintage of Riesling fermented in glass balloons and a 300L tank, Eva Fricke has come a long way in a short time, now in a new cellar in the town of Kiedrich where operations have been based since 2008. Her passion originated during practical vineyard training in South Africa and upon returning to Germany she studied viticulture & Oenology and worked at several vineyards around the world. It was Eva’s agreement at her last job that allowed her to pursue her own projects simultaneously. Looking for land, Eva was drawn to the western end of the Rheingau in Lorch where vineyards face south/southwest with very steep slopes of quartzite and slate soils and started to craft wines from a mere 0.27ha. Now farming 17ha, vineyards are worked organically (with some currently in transition) and biodynamic principles incorporated as needed, with no use of any chemicals. In the cellar, a very non-interventionist approach is taken. Eva and her team strive for pure, delicate wines with maximum expression of Rheingau and its different soils and microclimate. Her talent combined with the terroir, the wines have charm, are profound, and utterly remarkable!
