Interest in Jura’s potential has exploded thanks to some top producers including Domaine André & Mireille Tissot. Full of energy, Stéphane and Bénédicte have been running the Domaine, based in Arbois, since 1990 and were quick to start farming organic then move to biodynamics. They are no doubt one of the pioneering quality first biodynamic estates in the region. Now at 46ha in vineyards, terroir is diverse where the limestone bedrock extends from Burgundy sitting above a clay/decomposed limestone (marne). Selection Massale of vines preferred over clones, dense planting, chemical products banned, natural yeasts, long macerations, and minimal sulphur use. Mainly working with grapes: Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir — over 30 cuvées are produced as appellation Arbois, Château Chalon, Macvin du Jura, Crémant du Jura. Tissot is one of the most conscientious, passionate, terroir-driven properties in Jura. Their wines are always pure and precise but also incredibly expressive and unique.
